Are there really 37,200 vacant positions?

When we say we have 37,200 vacant positions in 24,817 job ads, it is because some ads are looking to fill two or more vacancies.

Jobindex is based on a search engine that each night crawls various companies’ job/career sites, other Danish job boards and the public job centres’ website for jobseekers Jobnet. We remove any readvertisements, extras or duplicate job ads, just as we delete ads that are more than 60 days old, excluding paid job ads that are currently open.

The number of vacancies is 50% higher than the number of job ads, as a job ad typically is looking to fill 1.5 position. Jobindex sums up the number of job ads according to guidelines outlined by Danske Medier. In the course of a month, 25,000-30,000 job ads corresponding to 40,000-45,000 vacant positions are advertised online in Denmark.

The number of job ads is an indicator of the Danish labour demand. In collaboration with Børsen, we publish “Dansk Jobindex,” a statistical data tool showing the development in the number of online job ads in Denmark.
